eWeek, formerly known as PCWeek, is a technology print publication with
an associated on-line version. To produce pages for print, eWeek authors write their stories using Microsoft Word. Layout is done with QuarkXPress.
The stories are converted into HTML using Vignette.
To simplify copy flow and production, eWeek required customized Word templates and toolbars
that would automatically move copy from editorial to production and would also convert copy to appropriate Quark styles. Sampson Consulting created customized Word toolbars and macros using Word Basic. (Prior to the introduction of Vignette, we also supplied Word macros to convert the print text into HTML with minimal keystrokes.) eWeek is part of ZDNET publications.
